ABOUT OUR CAMPUS

In 2019, we planted our college ministry and have connected with over 300 students from 17 countries. Eleven students came to saving faith in Christ in 2021-2022 school year. We hope to make a kingdom difference on the Missouri Valley Campus, Marshall, the US and, around the world.

We are solely funded by churches and individuals. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and would help us spread the difference we are creating.

MARITA AVILEZ

CAMPUS MISSIONARY

Hi! I'm Marita Avilez. I have always had a passion for working with students. I'm a former teacher and youth minister. I was born and raised in Marshall and my husband Alex is an MVC alumni. We both are passionate about this campus. I've been helping with The Bridge since is started in 2019, but came on staff in January of 2021 and love it!

Patty Jo and Luke led worship and Trista taught over Daniel chapter 3. Our graduating seniors were recognized and given a stole to wear for graduation. We are so proud of them!

We had a great time at the Easter Bash on campus today! We started off with an egg hunt then ate food and played games. It was great weather to hang out in the sun. We are grateful that God sent his one and only son to die on the cross for our sins and then rose to life 3 days later! Romans 10:9-10: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Tonight at The Bridge we had a guest speaker: Greg Gaumer, a 2005 MVC alumni and former football player. Cedric led worship and Ethan, Greg's sophomore in highschool son, joined him on the drums. Greg taught over Mark 13.

Today we helped the Petrov family pack up their U-Haul to move. Nick has been the campus chaplain at Missouri Valley College and our faculty advisor so we are sad to see him leave! He's been a huge blessing to the students at MVC!

Last night was our last meeting for the semester. We watched a video of the song The 12 Days of Christmas and then Marita taught a lesson over the spiritual meaning of the song. Then we had a time of prayer and hugged each other goodbye. It was so cool that several students were asking for more 3 Circles bracelets so they can share The Gospel with their family and friends back home!

We celebrated Thanksgiving early last night with a delicious meal with @algomaschurch. Thanks to Diana @thethankulone for sending dressing, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole and pumpkin pies and Michelle for the turkey, mashed potatoes, rolls gravy and cookies! It was fun to celebrate together. Then we ended the night with worship and @lhermayer shared her testimony and led us in a devotion.

This morning @andrewwelty97 led the devotion for campus chapel. He read the story of the widow giving her only 2 coins. He challenged us to live an attitude of gratefulness and giving to others.

We had a fun night at Brazil Night! The Brazilian students made chicken stroganoff, rice, cheese bread, and carrot cake. It was so delicious! Thank you to @elendcabral for leading the cooking crew and thank you to Fresh on the Go food truck for letting us use their rice cooker.
